My Story

From corporate drone to broke and unemployed to full-time passive-income earner!

I went from losing my job at the beginning of the economic crash in 2008 to having a full passive-income online business in less than two years. I have since then focused my efforts on teaching entrepreneurship to others.

My name is Mike Omar and I am the founder of the Make Money from Home LIONS CLUB.

This is my story of how I ended up where I am today…

I graduated from the University of Florida in 2006 and moved to NYC that year to work in finance (which had always been my goal…I didn’t know what else to do so I figured I’d go straight to the money!).  I had a good job at a commodities trading firm and was on track for a great career…until the economy crashed.  About two years into my career my department was shut down and I was let go.  At the time I was devastated and desperate for money (I REALLY didn’t want to move back home to live with my parents in Florida).

That’s when I started buying and selling tickets online for extra money while doing catering gigs on the side (while I looked for a “real” job).  Through my ticket brokering experimentation, I started to learn about how to make money with Ebay and continued from there.  I taught myself basic web design, and started advertising my freelancing services on Craigslist to make extra side income (trust me, there is no faster way to learn how to make websites than to have clients making demands after they’ve paid you!).

It was at that point that I decided to take my first stab at a passive income website.  I wrote an ebook about my experiences buying and selling tickets online and eventually put the ebook on a website that became How to Become a Ticket Broker.  It took a long time for me to sell my very first ebook, but when I got my first email alerting me that I had made a sale, that was the moment I fell in love with the whole “passive income” model.

Eventually, I learned how to make other types of websites that made totally passive income, mainly through Google Adsense, Amazon Associates, and Commission Junction.  I’ve also learned how to build membership websites, and the more I learn, the more I realize there is to learn!  And the money that can be made online is insane.  It took me about two years to reach a full time passive income from home.  Obviously, I never had to go look for a “grown up” job ever again. 🙂

At the time I lost my job, I was devastated, but it turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me.  It forced me to find other ways to make income for myself, and now I can’t imagine a life where I go to an office five days per week, have a boss, and only get two weeks of vacation per year.

I have learned a lot during my journey in online entrepreneurship (my biggest lessons were my costliest, either in time, money, or both) and now I dedicate myself full-time to all kinds of entrepreneurial projects (it’s fun).  Every new method you learn to make money from home is a new tool in your toolbox to slowly but surely escape your dependence on a traditional job!

At this point I have a portfolio of over 160 website that all make me some level of passive income (some more than others), but there were A LOT of failures before then.

My best advice to anybody who is interested in entrepreneurship is START NOW! And always be working on side projects outside of your regular job. The skills and knowledge you can learn in my video lessons will open a lot of doors for any aspiring entrepreneur, and everything on this website will always be 100% free.
