In this lesson I will show you how to plan out the launching of 10 passive income websites in an Excel spreadsheet, as well as the backlinking plan for each of them. The plan should take 3 to 6 months to execute, but it will teach you invaluable lessons about how making money online actually works, as well as make you a solid foundation of passive income from which you can grow and experiment. ย The goal: $5,000 passive / month.

The specific lessons taught include:

1. How to organize 10 websites with 10 blue keywords each for every website (as well as related keywords to include in each article for every blue keyword) in Excel. ย Each keyword will have a potential of at least $50 passive per month. ย 10 * 10 * $50 = $5,000.

2. How to map out your link building campaign for each homepage and post for each website.

3. How to analyze your Google Adsense earnings and Google Analytics traffic to pick out your most profitable websites / posts, focus on those, and easily multiply your earnings.

Update: Google Analytics no longer shows all the keywords bringing traffic to your websites, so I now recommend using Clicky. Clicky shows all the information that Google Analytics used to show, is just as easy to install, and I actually find it more user-friendly. I now use both tools.

For tracking keywords, I recommend using SerpBook. ๐Ÿ˜€

    Hi Omar,
I watched your first video http://makemoneyfromhomelionsclub.com/lesson-6-1-how-to-plan-and-launch-a-passive-income-portfolio-of-10-websites/
You summarize the project into 4 steps:
Step 1: Find lists of 10 related blue keywords (at least)
Step 2: Make 10 Websites with 10 keyword targeted articles each (make sure related keywords are within articles)
Step 3: Monetize each website with Google Adsense
Step 4: backlinking promotion (at least 10 links to homepage, preferable 20)
I do not understand what to do on steps 3 through 4.
    Thanks!!
    Best Regards,
    -Manny

    • Hi Manny,

You need to watch the other video lessons first to truly understand this one. This one is a summary of the entire lesson plan, but to see the entire thing in detail you need to watch ALL the video lessons from the beginning!

  2. Hi Mike! I’ve finished one site and am working on my backlinking promotion. Would you recommend completing that all the way through before starting to work on the next site? (i’ve already done the KW research) How did you find it best juggle the startups of your sites? If I could outsource a lot of the writing I would do that while I work on the backlinking, but have to hold off on that for now.

    Thanks! This is exciting ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hi Mae,

The order is really up to you. I personally like to switch back and forth between growing my websites and then promoting them through backlinking. This is to keep my activities from becoming too monotonous and also because Google will give websites a temporary rankings boost whenever new content is posted on them.

Over time, your websites gain more posts and more backlinks (and therefore, more traffic and more earnings!). And each new post is easier to rank in Google than the one before it. Remember that little increments of constant work on your websites definitely go a long way.

    • Thanks for the kind words Manny! It has been very rewarding to help other succeed, which is why I love doing this!

  4. Hi Mike,

First thanks for your hard work making all these videos. I have watched nearly all of them religiously in two days! I am very grateful for all this knowledge.

I am really keen into putting into practice what you teach here. I am lucky enough to be a webdesigner as a full time job so the part about making websites will be fine.

This being said I have a few questions for you:

-How do you decide which topic your websites will be about? You say you have around 160 websites. There must be a lot where you had previously no knowledge about the topic no?
In that case do you decide to outsource the writing of all the articles?

Let’s say I want to start 10 websites with 15 posts. What’s the amount of posts that you will have written by someone else? Doesn’t make it quite a hefty budget?

Postrunner sounds like a good tool but I doubt someone will want to post a greatly crafted post on a starting website with very low PR rank no?

-I have started approaching link building for my main website. When it comes to directories lots of them will ask for link exchange. In fact I assume that a lot of people will legitimately ask for this. As a result do you end up with a special page on each website “stuffed” with links?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks again.

    Guillaume

    • Hi Guillaume,

I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the videos! You are at a great advantage already being a web designer.

      – I honestly made websites about anything that had weak competition in the search results (blue keywords). Most of my ideas were found browsing Amazon since it means anything I found already had an associated product with it too. Then I’d either do the research on the blue keywords myself or have my outsourcers do the research (they were trained on how to do the research, write the articles, etc.). I eventually got to the point where I outsourced every part of the process and only oversaw everything as it happened.

      – If you did 10 websites with 15 posts each that would be 150 posts total that go on your website (those need to be HIGH quality). Then if you started off with 3 backlink articles per post, that’s an additional 450 posts (remember that those backlink articles are usually allowed two links within them). It’s a lot of work without a doubt, and if you were to outsource it, it would get pretty costly (I would spend $3k per month on average back when I was building and expanding my portfolio, which looking back is a little crazy since I had no idea if this would work haha).

      – PostRunner has all kinds of websites on it, high PR and low PR. As long as the quality of the article is decent, most websites will accept it. A lot of times I would personally write the articles that were being submitted to high PR websites.

      – I will link out to the other website from my “money websites” if it’s a good website (because that can’t hurt it). If it’s not a very good website, I had websites I specifically owned for the purpose of linking out to poor websites (they weren’t the greatest of websites either).

As you can see, my portfolio got pretty expansive with a lot of interesting strategies that I developed along the way as well as a lot of money being poured in, but I did start from scratch just like everyone else. Looking back it’s a little crazy, but needless to say I’m very happy I went for it. I learned A TON during the process.

      Hope these answers help!

      Mike

  5. Hi Mike I just have one question. For my backlinking campaign would it be ok to use social media sites to post articles there like facebook, twitter, etc?

  6. Hi Mike do you think fiverr is a great site to get articles from.

    • Hi Chris,

I’ve never ordered articles from there but I don’t see why not (for backlink articles anyway, I can’t image those articles are very good). The only concern would be that the article they’re sending you is not original and is already somewhere online. I’d do a check after receiving it to make sure it isn’t plagiarized.

      Mike

  7. Hi! I saw a couple of your videos and got pumped to keep on viewing the rest, but they are not available anymore. How could I watch them? Seems like the Youtube channel was canceled. I have your book, but the videos are way helpful. Thanks!

    • Hi Ramon,

The videos are now available on Udemy.com (and no worries, they’re still completely free!).

Also, if you have the time, a positive review on Amazon for my book would be greatly appreciated (only if you’ve got the time though!).

      Best,

      Mike

      • Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll watch them on Udemy. I’ve been looking for sources of passive income, and I think this is a good place to start. Don’t worry; I’ll give your book a well deserved positive review. Thanks for keeping the videos free! Nobody does that anymore. Blessings and Happy Holidays!

  8. Thank you so much for teaching me. I have been trying to do this for 10 years off and on. Everything was scattered in my mind.I coulnot put things together. Even paid for a course in online marketing. They took my money,a lot of it,
and gave me a poor course outline. Your videos run circles around them. You teach because you love what you are doing.
This shows through. You put everything in order. I don’t feel so scattered anymore. I am a young 63 years old. I bought one of your Kindle books and something else. I will
    be buying more.

Thank you for all thatyou do. I can’t stop watching your videos. I watch them instead of t.v. I am getting ready
to start my key word research.

Did you do a video on how to navigate the spreadsheet?

    • Thank you so much for the kind words Linda! They really mean a lot. ๐Ÿ™‚

The video on this lesson shows how to set up your spreadsheets (there isn’t anymore to it than what’s shown!). ๐Ÿ™‚

      Best,

      Mike

  9. Hi Mike,
I wanted to find out more about outsourcing SEO work. Is there a company that you recommend?

    • Hi Madison,

Yes! I outsource a lot of services that are necessary to run this business. You can find them on my resources page. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Best,

      Mike

  10. Hi Mike,

Before I do this. What about Panda and the Google slap? Anything I should know? Is the information still valid?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Mark,

No need to worry about those updates. In spite of those Google updates (and other ones that will come out in the future), the strategies outlined are still the ones I use to this day and my portfolio continues to earn and grow. I believe this to be the case because my backlinking strategies are extremely conservative and my websites are of very high quality (garnering natural links). The people who have chaotic rankings across their website portfolio (I’m guessing) are the ones who have used a lot of blackhat tactics that have gotten them quick results, and then caused ranking losses just as quickly. That’s how people have had entire portfolio rankings wiped out in a single update. If your portfolio of websites is made up of quality websites with solid backlink profiles (that can’t be faked through blackhat strategies), the algorithm changes will have a very minor impact on your rankings (and a lot of cases will help because they’ll wipe out the competition).

      Best,

      Mike

  11. Hey mike,

I’m from Holland and trying to figure out how it works. I’m not that good in computers, but i really want to learn.

I’m having trouble opening te videos ๐Ÿ™ Because when i click on the link, it will open the same video as the intro. And this happens when i click on all links. It opens the intro en not the video that is linked to the lesson. So please can you help me?

    Best regards,

    Diana Douma

    • Hi Diana,

You need to sign up for an account with Udemy first (no worries, it’s free to do this). Once you do and are signed in, each video should link to the correct video. If you do this and it still isn’t working, let me know! No worries, we will figure it out. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Best,

      Mike
