  1. I’ve been reading for years about how to develop a website and make money from it but my limited knowledge of ‘how’ to do it has held me back. Then I stumbled upon Mike’s E book, “How to Make Money Online” and his website complete with video’s that follow along step by step. I was delighted to realize that I actually understood the process. Now, I have a few websites up and running, they are a work in progress and as I’ve come to understand ALL websites are works in progress. I am just so tickled to have finally made the jump and to have found Mike’s tools help. Happy websiting !!

    • Thank you so much for the kind words Becca…it has been a pleasure talking with you via email! Let me know if you have any more questions along the way and I will happily help you the best that I can!

      Mike Omar

  2. I too bought the book and along with the video tutorials I now have a basic website up and running. Just have one question. When I went into widgets I don’t have any option for Links. What do I do?

    • Sorry, meant to add that I love the book and the tutorials! Very helpful.

    • Hi Linda,

The latest version of WordPress doesn’t have a “links” widget. The way to get around this is to insert a “text” widget in the sidebar and then type in the links manually using HTML (if you don’t know how to do this, just look up “html link” into Google and it’ll give you an example – it’s very easy to do).

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!

      • Joshua says:

        Hi Mike!
I also ran into this problem and before reading the comments I did some research. You can Add A Menu (do not add to “header menu or footer menu”) by going to Menus under Appearance. Add the links you wish to have in the menu. Then once the menu is ready go to Widgets and move “Custom Menu” into the Side Bar area. Use the Drop down arrow on your new “custom menu” in the sidebar widgets area and Title your Menu and Select the menu you previously created. Save and you are good to go! This will avoid anyone having to learn html! Hope this helps! Thanks for all the great information on this website Mike!

        • That’s a great tip Joshua! Thank you for sharing.

          • Hi mike , why we don’t use a simple website builder like weebly instead?

          • Hi Yoel,

There are plenty of good website building tools out there, but I still like WordPress the best. Weebly is still very limited in terms of options (and you have to pay to get the Pro version) and there is a mandatory link to their website on the footer (not the greatest for SEO). It’s not a bad tool, but I don’t like having my websites (my business!) on free platforms where the company can change their rules at a whim, and ultimately WordPress is still better anyway (in my opinion of course). Those are my thoughts on it anyway.

            Best,

            Mike

  3. Hi Mike!

First, thank you for the easy to follow and candid approach to webdesign! I’m currently working full time, but hope within six to nine months to be able to quit my job and make money from home so I can be at home with my daughter.

I’m stuck on a very simple portion of lesson 1.2. I’m in wordpress, following along, and then I came to the part about adding links, and I don’t have any default links on my webpage, and there is no Link section in wordpress. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Jenn

    • from what I’ve read, they’ve gotten rid of the link section and say to format links through the custom links widget. Still reading how to do that…

      • Hi Jenn,

I JUST replied to your previous comment haha. But yes, adding links using the custom links widget works too. However, I think adding them manually through HTML in link widgets would be easier.

        Mike

    • Hi Jenn,

I’m glad you’re enjoying the lessons!

It turns out that in the new version of WordPress they took out the link widget. A way to add links to your sidebar is to add a text widget, and then insert the links manually using HTML (just look up HTML links in Google, it’s very easy to do).

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hello Mike,

Best website resource ever! I bought the ebook and did not know what to expect. I was a little concerned when the ebook kept referencing the website, however this is awesome. You have gone above and beyond with this website.

I want to do the same thing with my topic on debt elimination. I know that it is impossible with debt as a keyword but I created some software years ago and want to work people though it in a lesson layout like you have here. It will and always will be free.

What theme did you use to build this website?

Again great resource, I am changing all my website to wordpress themes.
    Thank you.

    • Hi Gene,

Thanks for the kind words! I’m also happy to hear that I’m inspiring someone to also offer a free resource on a topic that a lot of people could use help in. That’s amazing!

The theme I use for this website is called “the corporation” by Elegant Themes (please sign up through my affiliate link on my resources page if you become a member!).

Let me know if you have any other questions!

  5. Hi Mike,
    Thanks for the great tutorials.
I am wondering if you know anything about when WordPress comes up with an error:
“An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”
It happens when I try to search for themes and plugins.
I tried searching the forums, but they just seem to argue over posting separate threads, than actually helping…google came up with nothing for me either. The only suggestions is my firewall or Malware. Have you come across this before?
Thank you in advance and thanks again for the great resources.

    • Hi Nicki,

I’ve never come across this problem and I’m not very good at the technical part of this business, but if I were you, I’d try contacting HostGator directly. They’ve got 24 / 7 support and you can usually get someone live-chatting with you within a few minutes. They’ve always been able to help me when I come across problems like this.

Let me know if you’re able to solve the issue!

      Mike

  6. OK. I finally got the “Contact Form” WORKING.

I watched how you sorta disabled the “comment” form but now I can’t seem to reinstate it. How can I have a comment form on my posts. Thanks

    • Glad you got the contact form working!

On posts or pages there is a box where you can check or uncheck “allow comments”. That’s how you do it. πŸ™‚

  7. well I sorta did something after I searched the world over. Can you take a look at my site and tell me what you think about the “leave a replay” thingy. PLEASE. THANKS

    • Hi Helen,

I took a look and it looks fine to me! You should be proud of yourself for having gotten a website up and running. Keep working at it!

      Mike

  8. Please i want to create an advert page like the buy how to become a ticket broker page that will carry a optin form and like a landing page….
    I need help please.

    • If you watch my videos, you’ll be able to do it! Learn how to build a website in lessons 1.1-1.4, and then learn how to build out the sales, payment, and download page on lessons 7.1-7.2, and then how to build an optin form and newsletter in lesson 8.1.

If you have any further questions, just feel free to leave them and I’ll answer you as best as I can! πŸ™‚

  9. Hi Mike,

I just signed up to Lions Gate and would like to congratulate you for making such an easy to follow course. I had been doing some prior research on how to make a blog but none has come close to the type of info you have provided. However I have a question regarding the Pages on WP, is there a way to order them so that they DON’T show up in alphabetical order? I would really appreciate your help.

    Sincerely,
    Roberto

    • Hi Roberto,

Thank you for the kind words!

If you go to the back end of your website to the “pages” section, there should be a column that says “page order” or something along those lines. You can arrange the page order there. πŸ™‚

      Mike

  10. Am I missing something here? This video does not cover how to add pages, etc. The video I get when I click on the link talks about the basic concepts of making $5k per month online. I need video 1.2! I have my basic website up, but now I’m stuck with regard to adding pages, etc. Thanks.

    • Hi Heather,

I just double-checked the links and they’re definitely pointing to the right lesson on Udemy.com. Are you sure you’re logged in when you click on the link? If you aren’t logged in, it will point you to the introductory video.

      Mike

  11. Thanks for the great course Mike and the excellent level of details that you delve into for each topic. Really well researched and presented.

    J

  12. Great website. Im trying to access the video for lesson 1.2 on how to add pages and posts. I tried opening it on udemy.com but it will not open. It says click on the links but there are no links listed

    • Hi Mike,

I just checked the link and it seems to be working fine for me. Did you sign up for a Udemy account (free) and are you logged in? That might be what is happening.

      Best,

      Mike

      • Hey Mike,
I moved from my high dollar iMac computer to my wife’s 15″ hp laptop and in the 1st minute I was able to go to lesson 1.2!!
I’m exited to start learning how to build my 1st website!!

        Thanks,
        Luis Arcila

  13. Lesson 1.1 was fabulous!
Is anyone else experiencing trouble accessing lesson 1.2 on how to actually build your website?
I am so interested and ready to learn by building my first website but I cannot access it πŸ™

    • Hi Luis,

I answered your email but I’ll answer here as well in case someone else has the same question. πŸ™‚

You first need to sign up for an account with Udemy (it’s free), and once you do and are logged in, the links should point to the correct video lesson. πŸ™‚

      Best,

      Mike

  14. I have been struggling for almost a year to make a profitable online business income. I have managed to get a trickle of income from some eBooks I published, but have not reached the income level I desire. I have been discouraged by other online ventures that promise to give me the information I need to make a lot of money online, but then I either had to join a club or group or pay a monthly fee to use their service or I would have to invest a lot of money to get “all” the information or use of tools or I simply could not understand their process. So when I found Mike Omar’s free video series and saw that he will never try to sell me something or up sell me something, I was very relieved to have found him! I look forward now to working online and creating a steady stream of income that I can count on based on Mike’s easy to follow video series!

  15. Mike,

I’m trying to watch,”How to add pages, posts, widgets, a sidebar, and new themes to WordPress Install”, but every time I click the link, or rather what I believe is the correct link, it always just plays the very first video, the introductory video.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    • Hi Patrick,

Make sure you are logged into Udemy (it’s free to register). One you are logged on you’ll be directed to the correct video. πŸ™‚

      Mike
