When posting articles on HubPages, don’t forget these guidelines:

– Make the articles 500-1000 words each.
– Don’t forget to register your Google Adsense and Amazon Associates information so you can make money from the articles you submit.
– Include the following capsules (at the very least) to ensure you have a high quality hub: text capsule, Amazon capsule, photos capsule, links capsule, and comments capsule.
– Be sure to include at least two links to your main “money websites”, at least one link to an authority website (like Wikipedia, New York Times, etc.) and the rest of the links should be to products on Amazon with your affiliate information.

When creating your free online blogs, don’t forget these guidelines:

– Make the blog at least five posts total with 500-1000 words each.
– Monetize these mini blogs with Adsense or Amazon (or both!).
– Like with HubPages, be sure to include at least two links to your main “money websites”, at least one link to an authority website (like Wikipedia, New York Times, etc.) and the rest of the links should be to products on Amazon with your affiliate information.
– Include photos for each post (with targeted keyword in title) and at least one related YouTube video somewhere on the blog.

When commenting in forums or on blog posts, don’t forget these guidelines:

– Sign every comment with your name and website URL.
– Try to make each comment something that ADDS to the conversation.
– Try to develop relationships with other webmasters, so that you can later requests links to your website or request to submit guests posts to their website (with a link pointing back to your website).

  1. Kristina says:

Hi, my question is, do you create many many new emails for every single miniblog or do you use one email address and make many different blogs using it?

  2. Hi Mike,

When signing up for something like Hub Pages, would you use a pen name? Wondering if it makes a difference if Google notices if you are posting a hub and then pointing it to your site?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Hi Mike,

    Two questions:

First question: you recommended linking to a related Youtube video in one of our miniblog posts. Do you mean for us to link to someone else’s video, or were you intending that we create a video to link to? If we’re supposed to link to someone else’s, is there some sort of etiquette involved (asking for permission, etc)?

Next question: early in the video series, you said you set up your sites to make it difficult for people to comment. Is it bad form to disallow comments on our posts while commenting and asking for links to other people’s websites?

Hmm…I guess that was actually three questions.

    Thanks! Still loving this series!

    Lynn

    • Hi Lynn,

I had meant linking to someone else’s video, but you could also make a video yourself! And then from the YouTube video you make, definitely link to your money website from there for a powerful link. Also, if you link to someone else’s video, no worries about asking permission or anything like that.

As for comments, I meant make it difficult to comment so that you aren’t bombarded by spammers and this way you will only get true legitimate comments from actual readers. And those are the kinds of comments you should be making on other websites (comments that actually add to the conversation).

      Hope this helps!

      Mike

  4. Hi Mike,

first to say: great work you have done! Really inspirational… and now I am dreaming to have a set of websites thats makes me independent 🙂

I have a general question. I am in germany and so the websites I am creating are for the german speaking regions. When I watch your videos I asked me several times some linked questions: you recommend sites, tools and especially in the video above services like hubpages or article directories – which, of course, are US oder .com companies. Do you think that I can use them anyway for germany, that they will have the same impact as for a US website?

And some more questions about initial google listing: if I build up a website and published it, do I have anything to do to get the site listed in google? Or does wordpress sth. that this will go automatically? How long does it take (from your experience) and can I speed it up?

Again: great work! And hope to hear from you soon.

    Best regards
    Dirk

    • Hi Dirk,

Thank you for the kind words! 🙂

You can certainly use those websites to get links as long as they accept articles in German. If they don’t, you may be out of luck.

Also remember that Germany may have a much less saturated market. If there are no German article directories, that could be a good opportunity for you to build one! Those article directories make A LOT of money!

And yes, Google will pick up your website pretty much as soon as you publish it and get some backlinks to it…I don’t know the exact amount of time, but it happens very quickly. 🙂

      Best,

      Mike

  5. Hi Mike,
For creating mini-blogs are you saying that we pick two articles to include the target keyword and related keywords from the the main site and the remaining articles for the mini-blog do not have to be based in keyword research?

    • Hi Madison,

There are no “rules” to how to do this, but that would certainly work (a little bit of keyword relevance and a little bit of randomness as well).

      Mike

  6. Also would it make sense to take the articles already written for our main sites and utilize the content rewrite option from the content authority to create articles and post them both to our mini-blogs and to article directories?

  7. Hi Mike,

Should our miniblogs have the privacy page and the terms and conditions page like on our main site?

Also, it looks like WordPress has its own advertisement program that we can sign up for. Would this be just as good as using AdSense, or would you recommend sticking with AdSense?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Mike,

I just found the answer to one of my questions, so I thought I’d share it here for anyone else who has the same question.

I tried several times to add adsense code to my posts on my free WordPress miniblog, but every time I updated my post, it deleted the adsense code.

After some research, I learned that WordPress does not allow any advertising but its own on its wordpress.com free blogs, presumably because it’s making money with its own advertising.

      Lynn

      • Hi Lynn,

Just read this comment after posting my own answer to your last question haha! But yes, you are exactly right. 🙂

        Mike

    • Hi Lynn,

I like to add the privacy page and terms and conditions page to the miniblogs because it makes them look a little more legitimate and takes two seconds to do. Plus if they eventually grow enough to put ads on there, they’re already ready!

WordPress blogs now only allow their own advertisement program, so in that case you have to use the WordPress ads! Otherwise though, I’d stick with Adsense. 🙂

      Mike

  8. Mike, is it important to have 2 or more mini-blogs per website? Or is one usually enough to start with.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    • Hi Martin,

Go for an “as needed” basis. You can start with one (alongside your other link building techniques), and if you still aren’t seeing results, go for another one (and another, etc).

      Best,

      Mike

  9. Hey Mike, I have found a some niches with low PR ranks for the first 4 results however they come from very high authority websites like amazon and other sales related websites. I would like to open a website dedicated to a niche that people buy stuff from ranking for that keyword. Do you think I still have a fair shot of having a website dedicated to that niche with low competition pages from high authority websites???

    Thanks Mike, – Beck H

    • Hi Beck,

No worries that those results come from high PR homepage domains! As long as the specific URL you are competing with has low PR, you’re fine. 🙂

      Best,

      Mike
